The modem package contains the following:
1. DSL300g Ethernet modem
2. Power pack
3. Ethernet cable
4. Phone cable
5. Install CD ROM
To ensure that your computer is configured correctly please follow the instructions below.
Step one: Configure Windows XP for DHCP
Use the following steps to configure a computer running Windows XP to be a DHCP client.
1. From the "Start" menu on your desktop, go to "Settings", and then click on "Network Connections".
2. In the "Network Connections" window, right-click on "LAN" (Local Area Connection), then click "Properties".
3. In the "General" tab of the "Local Area Connection" Properties menu, highlight "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" under “This connection uses the following items:” by clicking on it once. Click on the "Properties" button.
4. Select “Obtain an IP address automatically” by clicking once in the circle. Click the "OK" button.
5. Proceed with Step two.
Step two: Connecting your modem and establishing your connection
1. Connect the power cord as indicated above and turn on at the power point.

2. Connect the supplied Ethernet cable to the modem and to an available Ethernet port on your computer.

3. Connect the Phone cable to the modem and to the phone socket for the ADSL phone number.

NOTE: Inline filters may be required on any device (telephone, fax, alarm, answering machine) that is connected to the ADSL service number. The ADSL modem does not require a filter.
Once you have connected your modem you should have the following lights on the modem.

Power solid green
Status slowly flashing
ADSL solid green (will flash rapidly when sending or receiving data)
Ethernet solid green (will flash rapidly when sending or receiving data)
4. To configuring the modem, open a web browser window (i.e. Explorer) in the address bar type http://10.1.1.1/

5. Press enter, the following page will appear, enter details as listed below.

VPI 8
VCI 35
Security Protocol CHAP
6. Enter your username as supplied in the welcome email from the Pacific Internet Provisioning team, in the form user@dsl.pacific.net.au
7. Enter your password as supplied in the welcome email from the Pacific Internet Provisioning team.
8. Click on the “Save & Reboot” button
The configuration will be saved and the modem will restart. When the lights on the modem have returned the connection should have been established. To check the connection, refer to the “PPP information” box at the bottom of the “Quick Configuration” page as seen above. There should be an IP address, subnet mask, gateway and a disconnect button if you are connected.
