  D-Link 302G - Ethernet for Windows  
 

This guide explains how to set up the D-Link DSL-302G modem with a Microsoft Windows based computer via your Ethernet NIC (Network Interface Card). It is recommended that you install the supplied CD software.

This guide is applicable to Microsoft Windows 98 / 98SE / ME / 2000 / XP.

If you don’t have a Microsoft Windows based computer or prefer not to install the CD software then please follow the ‘Ethernet option for other operating systems’ guide.

1. Insert D-Link DSL-302G CD into your CD-ROM drive. The computer should automatically detect the CD and begin the set-up application. If not please, Double-click on ‘My Computer’ icon. Double-click CD-ROM drive icon

After which you should see the following pop-up window appear. Please click on ‘Install DSL-302G’ option.

2. It is recommended that you select ‘Ethernet Diagnostics’. This will allow you to use either the Ethernet and/or USB connection option. Click the ‘Install’ button to continue.

3. Please click the ‘Next’ button to begin the software installation.

4. Enter your name and company name then click the ‘Next’ button. NB. You can place anything within these two fields.

5. Click the ‘Next’ button to install the software in the displayed folder (recommended) or click the ‘Browse’ button to change the installation folder.

6. Place a tick next to the software you are wanting to install. Place a tick next to ‘Ethernet Diagnostics’ to install the software. NB: if you want to use USB at a later date, place a tick next to ‘USB Driver’. Click the ‘Next’ button once you are done.

7. Click the ‘Next’ button to use the folder name listed or enter a different folder name.

8. The software will begin installation onto your hard drive. You may receive this pop-up window. Please click the ‘Continue Anyway’ button.

9. Once the installation is complete, you will be prompted to plug in the power cord to the back of the modem. Once done click the ‘Next’ button.

10. Connect the Ethernet cord into the back of the modem then into the Ethernet NIC (Network Interface card). Once done click the ‘Next’ button.

11. Don’t plug the USB cord into the modem. Click the ‘Next’ button.

12. Connect the DSL telephone line to the back of the modem making sure that the telephone line is properly plugged into the telephone wall socket. Click the ‘Next’ button once done.

13. Click the ‘Finish’ button to complete the software installation.

A new icon should now be located on the Desktop called ‘DSL-302G Ethernet Diagnostics’.

14. Double-click the new icon ‘DSL-302G Ethernet Diagnostics’.

15. Click the ‘Set-up’ button located on the display panel.

16. Under the PPPoA/PPPoE tab please enter your username and password for your DSL service with Pacific Internet. For your username, it should be in the form of username@dsl.pacific.net.au, (eg. sean_smith@dsl.pacific.net.au). Click the ‘Refresh’ button and close the dialog window once you are done. It should automatically log you into Pacific Internet.

No other fields need to be changed. It is advisable that you don’t modify any other tabs unless for troubleshooting.

Test your connection via a browser.
