  D-Link 302G - USB for Windows  
 

This guide explains how to set up the D-Link DSL-302G modem with a Microsoft Windows based computer via USB. It is recommended that you install the supplied CD software.

This guide is applicable to Microsoft Windows 98 / 98SE / ME / 2000 / XP.

If you don’t have a Microsoft Windows based computer or prefer not to install the CD software then please follow the ‘Set-up of Express DSL with a D-Link DSL-302G using Ethernet for other operating systems’ guide.

1. Insert D-Link DSL-302G CD into your CD-ROM drive. The computer should automatically detect the CD and begin the setup application. If not please, Double-click on ‘My Computer’ icon. Double-click CD-ROM drive icon.

After which you should see the following pop-up window appear. Please click on ‘Install DSL-302G’ option.

2. Select ‘USB driver only’. Click the ‘Install’ button to continue.

3. Please click the ‘Next’ button to begin the software installation.

4. Enter your name and company name then click the ‘Next’ button. NB: you can place anything within these two fields.

5. Click the ‘Next’ button to install the software in the displayed folder (recommended) or click the ‘Browse’ button to change the installation folder.

6. You need to restart the computer for the settings to take effect. Remove the CD from the CD-ROM drive then click the ‘Finish’ button.

7. Once the computer has rebooted click the ‘Start’ button located on the Taskbar, select ‘Settings’ > ‘Control Panel’ > ‘Network Connections’.

8. Right-click once on the Name ‘Local Area Connection’ which has the Device Name ‘D-Link DSL-302G Modem’ and select ‘Properties’.

9. Under the General tab highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click the ‘Properties’ button.

10. Please ensure that you have your NIC set to obtain an IP address and DNS server settings automatically. If not, select ‘Use the following IP address’. For the IP address enter 10.1.1.3, for the Subnet Mask enter 255.0.0.0, and for the Default Gateway enter 10.1.1.2. As an option you can enter the DNS server addresses. Once done, click the ‘OK’ button. On some versions of Microsoft Windows you will be required to reboot.

11. After rebooting, open your Web browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator) and enter within the address bar http://10.1.1.2. A pop-up window should appear. Enter the default login clicking the ‘OK’ button once done.

Username: admin
Password: admin

12. Please select from the menu ‘Quick Configuration’. Change the ‘Refresh Rate’ to ‘No Refresh’. For each field enter the following information,

Connection Type: PPPoA VC-Mux
VPI: 8
VCI: 35
Security Protocol: CHAP
Username: username@dsl.pacific.net.au (eg. sean_smith@dsl.pacific.net.au)
Password: enter your Pacific Internet DSL password

Click the ‘Save & Reboot’ button.

The D-Link DSL-302G modem will reboot and automatically login.
